Good hotel, bad experience. I booked a ‘classic double’ room at this hotel as a treat. My partner and I are in a long distance relationship and our diaries finally allowed for one evening together and we decided to meet in Cork and make it special. I arrived at the hotel and was told I’d been upgraded to a better twin room. I explained I’d booked a double and would rather refuse the upgrade and stick with my double original room. The receptionist then, rather curtly, explained that a ‘classic double’ just meant a room for double occupancy, not a double bed. I told her Expedia showed pictures of a double bed in the room, to which she said that the Expedia photos were wrong and that I had booked a twin room not a double and the hotel was full and I could only have a twin room. This conversation continued for a few minutes until I found my booking confirmation that clearly stated I had booked a double bed. At this point the receptionist backed down and sent me to get a drink while she checked what could be done. I waited around half an hour before returning to see what was going on. They had found a room, gave me the key and sent me on my way (they didn’t apologise). The room was lovely, but an accessible room, which meant the advertised bath was missing and the shower was faulty with poor drainage, cutting showers short due to the bathroom flooding. By the time this was sorted the restaurant had shut they only provide toasted sandwiches for room service. So our night aw

The room was dirty, the bed damaged, no basic amenities (no hairdryer, toothbrushes, or water), and we had to ask for everything. The bathroom fan didn’t work, and the space felt unclean. Most staff were dismissive, making us feel like we were exaggerating. Only Mary at the front desk was kind and helpful. When we asked to change rooms, we were told nothing was wrong. The manager’s attitude at checkout was the worst part. Despite saying we were on vacation and just wanted to feel good, he spoke with a harsh tone and told us, “You just don’t like to be challenged.” As women visiting from abroad, we left feeling disrespected, awkward, and very unwelcome.

A lovely classic property in the heart of downtown. Check-in was easy and the rooms were nice. The price definitely feels related to the downtown accessibility because while the rooms were nice and comfortable, they were clearly dated with visible wear and tear. The related restaurant was fine with a variety of breakfast options, though the food was ok, many of the serving staff seamed like they were training. The location and the classic appeal is the selling point, though it didn’t quite feel like the price point was worth it.

As an old historical hotel, it is stunningly beautiful. Also as an old hotel, floors are creaky from rooms above and the plumbing can be heard from above room. Lovely room but terrible view of adjacent rooftops. Fitzgerald bar is a piece of art in itself. Pricey hotel but central and elegant.

This hotel was magnificent! The best way to describe it was a hotel from the USA roaring 20s - the opulence. The concierge we asked about getting to the Gaol (tourist attraction "prison") and the train station was very rude and the multiple ladies at the front desk were very condescending but it didn't ruin our stay. The hotel was located near the English Market and restaurants and shopping. The parking garage was a bit of a walk, but it was free and the car was protected. The room was as you would expect in Europe, in terms of size, but the old fashioned character and charm was there. We would go back and would gladly recommend it to anyone.

The pictures of the SPA are from 20 years ago I am certain. The hotel is doing renovations which we understood but that is not the problem , the spa is in terrible condition, lots of mildew and the fresh towel had used gum in it. The tiles are lifting their was garbage on the floor and i was too dirty to shower in after the terrible massage given. We wanted to speak with the Mgr of the hotel or the spa mgr but no one bothered to contact us back and its been a week. It is robbery to pay 110 Euros for this so called spa service. Shame on the Mgmt. No one but a woman at the front desk by the name of Geraldine seemed to give a care about customer service.
